The green gram is one of the most wholesome pulses. It is free from the heaviness and tendency to flatulence, which is associated with other pulses.
Sukha Daal Ingredients
- Whole green gram (moong) 1 lb
- Grated coconut 4 oz
- Onions 2 medium
- Green chilies 3
- Lemon 1
- Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
- Ghee 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Red chilies powder 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
Sukha Daal Cooking Directions

Soak the lentils overnight. Wash and remove skin the next day.

Heat the ghee and fry the mustard seeds and asafetida, add the lentils and the remaining spices.

Add 1/2 pint hot water and cook on a low heat until the lentils is tender and the water dries up.

Squeeze lemon juice into it and sprinkle with chili powder.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
